Building healthy paddlers and protecting waterways in the Lowcountry
Waterways in the Lowcountry
The city of Charleston, South Carolina and the surrounding Lowcountry are blessed with a wide variety of waterways. To ensure these waterways can be enjoyed by today's paddlers as well as those in the future, it's important that everyone do their part to protect our waterways. The Palmetto Paddle hopes to awareness of what our waterways have to offer to the community and show participants the different ways they can be enjoyed through paddle sports.
To make a more lasting impacting in our community, part of the proceeds from the Palmetto Paddle will go to to local non-profits and organizations that are aligned with our mission.
To do our part in protecting our Lowcountry waterways, the Palmetto Paddle is coordinating with local organizations to organize "Give Back Activities" for anyone to attend. These activities not only let people donate their time and effort to protecting our Lowcountry waterways but also provide them an opportunity to enjoy some time in nature.

Give Back Activities
Palmetto Paddle is hosted by the Charleston Paddle Club, a local non-profit group that is passionate about paddle sports, physical fitness, and fellowship. Our regular events include weekly dragon boat instruction and team practices, outrigger canoeing, open paddles, and various social events throughout the year. Members of our amateur sports team, the Charleston Firebreathers, compete nationally in dragon boating events and internationally by representing Team USA. Through these sports, our members develop a greater respect and love for Charleston’s beaches and waterways, get in great shape, and make new friends. We welcome members of all ages and skill levels, and we especially love introducing these rapidly growing sports to the people of the Lowcountry. Learn more about us on our web page.
